Wanna see the source of my tears Sunday?

There it is, that metal hook/latch. It doesn’t look like much, it’s very small, about ½ an inch but it made me cry and cry Sunday. How did this all play out you ask, well its very simple. I got my feelings hurt. It was the 1st time I really got them hurt for the baby. I was so sad for Taylor that he/she had to live with that hook.

Let me tell you the dilemma. That hook sticks out of the FRONT of the crib, on both sides. That’s right, ½ an inch outside the crib. I was completely dumbfounded that someone would make a crib with a metal piece sticking out that is potentially harmful to a toddler. I stood my ground and made Gus make some calls because I was CONVINCED there is NO WAY someone would make that.

Well they did, and it does. I lost it. I was so sad that my baby has a metal hook sticking out where he/she can bump or bruise or heaven forbid fall head 1st into it. I suddenly realized that in 3 months Taylor is going to be outside of me and I can’t protect him/her 100% of the time anymore. That was a scary thought. The tears didn’t last long but the sadness did. Then it was over. Thank you hormones and the worries of mommyhood!

Gus said I can buy a new crib if I want to, but I don’t. He said it best, you lived thru it, so will Taylor, it will be OK.

I did suggest taking the piece to my genius brother James to have him make some new ones that curve all the way around so they don’t stick out, so hopefully he can do that for us and this problem won’t exist anymore!

Room update, the crib is together and we bought a dresser! Woo hoo! I’ll take more pics once we have the dresser in this weekend.

Bookworm

Here's a wonderful picture of my nightly set up before I hit the bed! I traipse my Tums bottle around the house with me so it gets put in its proper place right in my reach along with a fresh bottle of water. The heartburn really hits around 1 am so both of those are necessary items in my nightly routine! That random grey thing is my book light so I can spend as long as I want reading if I get to a good part, and then there's that stack of books. Yep FIVE of them. I am currently reading 3 of them, and yes all at the same time, I'll let you guess which ones are the current faves. 1 is finished and the other is on the lineup when I finish one, I think 3 is about all I can handle at once these days. I have always LOVED to read and go to bed a little early to get some pages in.  There have been many a night where Gus comes in to me crashed out with a book in hand, and I wake up to him putting my book away turning off my light and crawling in bed trying not to wake me. 

Plan for the future: I am guessing I am going to get down to 2 books at once, hopefully I will still have some time for literature, if not I will be instilling that routine with Taylor with some kids books for sure. I was just telling Gus Sunday night that I can't wait to read my all time favorite book to Taylor: James and the Giant Peach. I still have my copy that I used to read over and over and over again! I hope the baby takes after me with a love for books!

Mahalo E Ke Akua No Keia La

What a weekend we had, babysitting, pool, yoga, soccer, and a Luau to top it all off! I had the pleasure of hanging out with my nephews Friday and Saturday while their parents got a much needed getaway and we had such a great time. Ryle (2 ½) is becoming such a gentleman and while I was changing his PJ’s he said to me “I’m being a very good boy Auntie” soooo cute! I’m so happy that he is excited to see me these days and I love playing with him! After I was relieved Saturday of my babysitting duties I ran errands and then spent the rest of the afternoon in the pool. I did get some chores done but I had to float it up while the sun was out, I just had to! Sunday we went to my Uncle’s “surprise” Luau 70th birthday party and had yummy food and hung out with the family some more. Shout out to Beck for my Luau dress (and April’s) it got lots of compliments! That’s pretty much it! Busy work week but looking forward to my lounge chair in the sun next Saturday!

24 weeks!

The belly has really popped in this past 3 weeks!  I am addicted to my bella band since nothing buttons anymore but that thing is a life saver!  I actually feel like I am pregnant now, not just fat hahaha.  After dinner out with the hubby one night the waitress (at IHOP yummmmm) asked "is the baby happy now?" hahaha!  That was the 1st time a stranger commented on the belly and it made me laugh.  I feel really good and still haven't had any massive cravings for anything specific yet.  I gained 7 lbs this month so officially I am at -9 LOL.  I'm sure that is gonna change real fast now!

Taylor is moving all around now and I can notice patterns, especially at 4 pm and 9 pm I get some great movement and get to watch my belly jump like crazy.  It's so fun to feel Taylor move in different spots on my tummy.  It tickles and I LOVE it!  Sometimes late at night if I haven't felt Tay all day I talk to the baby and I'll get a little nudge and I know he/she can hear me :)
I am starting to feel the "nesting" come on but in true Holly form it has nothing to do with acutal cleaning...I wanna organize!  I am on a kick to get plastic bins and start archiving clothes and crap that we used to have room for but don't any more!  The garage is gonna be FULLLLL soon!

The nursery has had no progress lately but thats mainly because of time, so soon we will get the crib built and hopefully a chest and bookcase in there this month!

Happy 4th!

We had a great 4th with friends floating in the pool!  It was a pretty relaxing and LONG day but I had a really great time and loved having everyone over!  We swam, ate, swam, ate, you get the drift.  When it got cold we moved the party inside and played with Kaylee and a little Wii bowling with the Joy's, Gus beat us all, of course.  Fireworks are legal in our city so around 8:30 Gus and I headed outside and watched the amazing amount of fireworks (legal and non) around our house.  It went on for 3 hours!  It was almost like being at a professional show!  We had a great time together and chatted away about Taylor and the upcoming year we have ahead of us.  Taylor was kicking away during the fireworks and we were telling her/him that they will be here next year (in bed! LOL).  Hope you all had a WONDERFUL 4th of July!

 

My Day Off with the Twins

Monday I got to have the house ALLLLLL to myself with the twins!  We had a wonderful day relaxing after all the Holiday madness this past month.  We slept in (they were VERY happy about that) and watched tv almost all day!  Jordan wouldn't go more than 12 inches from me and decided that she wanted to nap on my hand everytime I sat down.  Chaela found a rag and enjoyed a good nap/got high on a dusty Pledge rag, crazy girl.  I was so tried and sore after cleaning and entertaining I felt like I had ran a marathon and a day of nothing with no chore list was what my body needed to get me ready for a new week.  When the weather finally cleared up I finished a book by the pool and then it was time for Gus to be home!  It's amazing how fast a day flies by when you have nothing to do!  Well I had stuff I could have done.......o well!
