40 Weeks!

Well today's it, the "D" day, well the D in DUE that is!

I saw the Dr. yesterday and a whole lotta nothing is happening, I am dropping but not much else. I go back again on Tuesday and if still nothing then she will schedule me to be induced no later than the 29th. Not my 1st choice but she won't let me go past 41 weeks, so I don't really have much choice there.  Needless to say this next week will be full of all those home remedies - pineapple juice, walking, spicy food, April even wants me to try some salad dressing, amoungst all the other advice :)

I know Taylor will arrive safe and sound and God will bring this baby when He decides that it's Taylor's Birthday!

Today is my last day of work until January, I am so happy to be off and I am really excited that I am off work all thru the holidays!

The Bassinet

The Shafer family (my mom’s side) bassinet arrived! I am so so so excited to finally be able to use this wonderful family heirloom with Taylor! This bassinet is over 70 years old and has been used for all the Shafer family newborns since my Uncle Sam and my mom were born. There are name plates on the bottom (sorry I couldn’t get a good pic) with all the babies that slept there their first few weeks of life, including my mom, me and Ray!

My uncle redid the bottom with the wheels a few years ago to update it and My Aunt Mary K made sheets and new padding inside so we could continue to use it with the 3rd generation of Shafers. AMK gave it a cute red flare to match Taylors room and our house and after a couple weeks it will go back to Mike and Aprils when Kalea arrives so she can join the tradition too. Can’t wait to see Taylor’s little name plate added to the bottom soon!

Name plates are: My Uncle Sam, My Mom, Cousin John, Cousin Mike, Cousin Dan (aka Doc), Ray, Me, John's sons Jaydon then Logan, Mikes 1st son Van, Doc's first son Cole.  To be added: Mikes 2nd son Brody, Doc's 2nd son Luke, and soon to arrive Taylor and Mikes DAUGHTER Kalea!

 

Mark Your Calendars!

We have a deadline!  Taylor is due in 2 weeks and the doctor said yesterday that she wont let me go past October 29th, so in THREE WEEKS we will have sweet baby Taylor in our arms! I am so excited and ready, I hope these next few weeks fly by like the last few months have, I am so excited to kisss this little one's cheeks I can't stand it anymore!

We're Ready to go to the Hospital Mommy!

Yesterday morning I realized that I needed to get some things done and I started to pack up a hospital bag while Gus watched some football and set up the strollers and carseat. I have done a lot of research and read a lot on what to take and the truth is for a natural delivery it's almost nothing for me! If I end up having a C-Sec it will be interesting to send someone to get any needed items, hahaha!  So my bag only has a few items and I left it out for Gus to pack some things in as well and this is what happened:

 

The twins decided they are coming to meet Taylor too!  They wouldn't get out in fact and I eventually left them there while we went to a BBQ at Trails in Newport Beach.  It was a BEAUTIFUL day, Trail lives right on the sand and we watched football, ate tons of food, and watched a gorgeous sunset over the water.  There were 2 other pregos there so I wasn't alone in the mowing of chips and dip and brownies and watching the tequila shots go down, thank goodness.  We had a great day with them and I can't wait for many many more BBQ's!

Happy 2nd Birthday Brody!

Saturday was Brody's 2nd bithday and we had the best Space Ranger birthday for him at Mike and Apies.  He had a great itme and kept running around the yard saying "socks socks socks" the whole night, he is so cute!  Love that kiddo :) 

If you don't know it was Brody's arrival 2 years ago that sparked Gus' biological clock, and he even helped name him.  We love you cousin Brod's!!!

 

 

Baby Shafer's Wall

A couple weeks ago I ventured to April's to help her paint the nursery wall for her baby girl arriving in November.  We researched wall decals and many other options and I told her... hey we can do it ourselves with an overhead projector!  So I brought the equipment and she did the artwork (I have no talent, I can't draw a straight line with a ruler hahaha).  It turned out SO cute, I love it!  Kalea means bright in Hawaiian and she will be the 1st Shafer girl born in over 60 years!  Can't wait to meet this little princess.  Maybe Taylor will be a girl and Kalea can have at least ONE girl cousin amoungst all those boys!
