San Clemente

Saturday we headed to San Clemente to meet Mom and Dad for lunch and as we pulled out of the driveway my Granddad pulled in to visit so we toted him along with us! It turned out to be a beautiful day, the sun finally broke and after lunch Grandma took Tay out on the pier to get the crazies outta his legs. Granddad brought along some bread and was feeding the birds and was teaching Tay how to do it too. As Granddad handed Tay bread Tay would stick it in his mouth, and then again and again! It was so cute; his face was so perplexed as to WHY we were throwing food on the ground?!?!

Date Nite

Friday I got the bug to get out and spend some time with my hubby! I got a sitter and then hatched a plan, he he he!! I kidnapped my hubby and took him to Haven in Orange for some fancy libations and then sprung it on him – we are getting our tattoos! Now if you have ever heard Gus talk about Tattoos he has always been against them. Then when we got married he said he would do the wedding band thing, and then after Tay arrived he said he could see himself getting something representative of me and Tay. So I took a leap and decided that he needed to be initiated into the tattoo club! We started simple and did just our names under our wedding bands. It was really fun! Our bands cover them perfectly so if you disagree on the awesomeness of it all you won’t have to ever see it…date nite surprise completed!

25 Rules

I came across this blog post the other day and I loved it of course but #20 made me so happy and then SO sad at the same time!

20. Let his dad teach him how to do things
…without interrupting about how to do it the ‘right way.’  If you let his dad show and teach and discover with your son while he is growing up, some day down the road (after a short period of your son believing his dad knows nothing), he will come to the realization that his dad knows everything.  You will always be his mother, but in his grown-up man heart and mind, his dad will know the answers.  And this will be how, when your son is too busy with life to call and chat with his mom,  you will stay connected to what is happening in his life.  Because he will call his dad for answers, and his dad will secretly come and ask you.

I love both my boys so much and I cherish all the fun times they have together, I love the way Gus can get Tay laughing and dancing in his room.  They have a special connection that I hope grows into a very strong bond that won't be broken.  But secretly I hope that kid calls me one day too...

New Yerars in Ventura

We headed to the Shafer's North for New Years weekend and had the best time relaxing, celebrating, and even hanging out on the beach! The weather was beautiful. we walked everywhere and the kids played and played. Saturday night the Massoritti's joined us with their ADORABLE baby girl Mia Bella for dinner and fireside to ring in the new year. We welcomed in 2012 and Tay immediately woke up to join the fun, I rocked him a bit and he went back to bed and the adults then stayed up till 3 am!  Thank you Shafer's for another RAD trip to Ventura, we can't wait to do it all again, we love you!!!

Christmas

What a wonderful Christmas weekend we had!!! I can't even begin to write how much fun we had with the family in SD.  We spent 4 days with my parents and brothers and families.  It was presents, food, train, war, food, food, food!

Hightlights ~

1. Tay was SO blessed with so many new presents (thank you so much!) and he plays with them all every day!  He also loved watching the train go round and round  ~ to see on youtube click TRAIN
2. Traditional Mexican Christmas Eve dinner!  Dad and I made our casserole and rice, along with Dindy's beans and some tamales.  Tay got to try it all and he is still eating tamales this week :)
3. Mommy got a new Tassimo coffee maker and HOT boots!
4. WAR - all out war!!!  Mom waited till last to read the Bible and get us all calmed and peaceful remembering the reason for the season and then handed us all Nerf guns for all out WAR!!!  It was so much fun!  There's even a video HERE hahaha!  Tay wandered around collecting the bullets off the ground, I think by Monday we had found them all, but I'm sure Mom is finding a few in random places, hehehe!
5. Quad fun - Gus got Tay a mini quad and he loves to ride it!  He even holds it properly and uses his thumb to make it go!  Video HERE!
6. My mom taught Tay to say "Grandma" and he even squeaked out a "Grandpa" both with perfect enunciation, it was adorable!

Disney Fireworks

Right before Christmas we got to have an evening at the park with W3 to see the fireworks! Tay was SO good especially since they didn't start until 8:45 pm and that's way past his bedtime. He laughed and laughed at them and wanted more when they were done. I loved Christmas at the park, can't wait to do it all over again next year!
